Social & Cultural Programme in Playa del Carmen
IH Riviera Maya organises a regular programme of social activities in the school including welcome cocktail parties, conversation exchange evenings with Mexican students studying English, lectures on different aspects of Mexican and Mayan culture, film projections with commentaries, etc.
All these activities held in the school are included in the course fee.

We also organise excursions to some of the region's most interesting locations such as the ancient Mayan cities of Tulum and Chichen Itza; the island of Cozumel, famous for its coral reefs and marine life; or one of the region’s many superb nature reserves.
We can also organise weekend excursions to the magical city of Havana, Cuba, which is just a 1.5 hour flight from Cancun airport. These excursions outside Playa del Carmen are optional and are therefore not included in the course fee.
We give you a copy of the social programme planned for the following 2-week period when you arrive, with a typical programme reading as follows:
1st week
- Monday: Welcome to IH Party & City Walking Tour
- Tuesday: Games on the beach
- Wednesday: Mexican arts & crafts
- Thursday: Latin dance class - Merengue and Salsa
- Saturday: Full-day excursion to Cozumel
2nd week
- Tuesday: Visit to a Mexican handicraft centre
- Wednesday: Mexican Film
- Thursday: Visit to the Museum of Mexican Art
Additional activities
We will also help students plan their own social activities if they
want to do something extra like go to a movie, listen to live music,
go trekking, etc.
Included in your course fee: Spanish guide on visits and excursions,
welcome and farewell cocktails, all activities held in the school, visits
to places of interest in Playa del Carmen and all materials.
Not included: Excursions outside Playa del Carmen.
