Our DELE exam preparation courses
To prepare for the DELE exams with us, you take an intensive course (20 hours per week) plus 10 hours per week of private (1:1 or 2:1) DELE preparation.
The intensive course provides you with the opportunity to develop your overall level of competency and the private lessons will provide you with the skills required to ensure a successful outcome in the exam.

Start dates
You can start a DELE preparation course with us at any time of the year but the DELE exams themselves are only available on certain dates in May, August and November.
Note that IH Riviera Maya is a DELE exam centre, which means that you can take the exam in our school.

- Intensive +1:1 DELE preparation: 520 US$
- Intensive +2:1 DELE preparation: 395 US$ per person
Included: Registration, classes, level test, certificates, social programme, and access to all the school facilities.
Not included: Coursebook (approx. 35 US$) and exam fees (see below).

About the DELE exam
The Instituto Cervantes, the Spanish equivalent of the British Council or the Goethe Institute, organizes Spanish language exams known as Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (or DELE).
The DELE exams are offered at four levels: 'A1', 'Inicial', 'Intermedio' and 'Superior' which correspond with the European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- Diploma de Español Nivel A1 (Starter level): This qualification attests to sufficient linguistic ability for a very basic range of the most commonly used simple expressions in the Spanish-speaking world to satisfy immediate needs of a concrete type.
- Diploma de Español Nivel B1 (Inicial / Beginner level): This qualification attests to sufficient linguistic ability for understanding and responding appropriately in most normal day-to-day situations and for expressing desires and needs in a basic way.
- Diploma de Español Nivel B2 (Intermedio / Intermediate level): This qualification validates sufficient linguistic ability to get by in average day-to-day situations in normal communication circumstances which do not require specialized use of the language.
- Diploma de Español Nivel C2 (Superior / Proficiency level): This qualification accredits the necessary linguistic competence in situations requiring an advanced use of the language and knowledge of the cultural customs embedded within it.
All four exams include reading comprehension, listening comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and oral expression components. All parts of the exam are taken on the same day.
The "A1" exam takes a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete; the "Inicial" exam takes a total of 2 hours 50 minutes; the "Intermedio" exam lasts a total of 3 hours 45 minutes and the "Superior" exam lasts a total of 4 hours.
