Accommodation in Playa del Carmen

IH Riviera Maya offers students an unbeatable range of accommodation options in Playa del Carmen at very competitive prices. Our aim is to cater for all needs and the options include:

Student residence
Many of our CELTA course trainees stay at our new student residence in Playa del Carmen, where we offer special prices for those staying more than 27 nights (details below).

Apartments
We can provide fully-furnished self-catering apartments within walking distance of the school for those taking the CELTA course. Trainees can request a 1 or 2-bedroom apartment for their own, exclusive use, or you can request to have an apartment with some of our other students. In this case, you have you own bedroom but kitchen, bathroom and living space is shared.

Note that the other students you are sharing with may in fact be taking a Spanish course rather than a CELTA course.

Mexican host families
Staying with a Mexican host family is undoubtedly the best choice if you want to get a real feel the Mexican way of life. It will also help you improve your Spanish. We offer single bedrooms in carefully selected host families on a bed and breakfast or half board basis (half board includes the evening meal). Our families really know how to look after our students and make them feel at home. And they almost certainly introduce you to their family and friends.

Hotels
Playa del Carmen has a huge number of hotels, many of which are within a 5-10 minute walk of the school. There is a very wide range of hotels available, ranging from the simple, to the luxurious. Broadly speaking hotels can be divided into three categories: low price range, mid price range, and top price range.

The prices of the hotels vary, depending on the facilities they offer and the season of the year, and this is why we give a range of prices. All you have to do is indicate on the course application form whether you would like us to find you something at the top or the bottom end of the price range and we'll do our best to find something appropriate for you.

Please note that all hotels charge different prices according to the time of year. There are two high seasons in Playa del Carmen, mid-December to Easter, and July-August.

Apartments (per night)

Single room in an apartment sharing with other students: 36 US$
Double room in a shared apartment: 26 US$
Exclusive use of 1-bedroom furnished apartment: 65 US$
Exclusive use of 2- or 3-bedroom furnished apartment: 75 US$

Host family (per night)

Single room in a host family, with bed & breakfast: 28 US$
Single room with half board: 32 US$

Student Residence (per night, for stays of 27 or more nights)

Single room, no meals: 28 US$
Single room, with breakfast: 33 US$
Single room, with half board: 43 US$
Shared room, no meals: 19 US$
Shared room, with breakfast: 24 US$
Shared room, with half board: 34 US$

Hotels

Prices vary considerably, according to category and season. Peak seasons are December to Easter and July to August.
As prices can vary even within each category of hotel, we prefer to quote exact prices on an individual basis.

Please note If you choose accommodation in an apartment you may be asked to pay a deposit on arrival. Any loss or damage that is attributed to you will be deducted from the deposit before the balance is returned.
